"My guess is that Song would be quite happy to move here"

He wants bigger. That much is clear.

Re: Alex Song
He's a good player wasted on a manager like BFS in my opinion.

Not sure how any of this makes sense. You cannot build a team around someone who can barely complete a pass in nearly five months, and you can't make a loan player with no obvious leadership qualities into club captain. Sadly he is wasting a terrific talent and shows no sign in his career of being able to knuckle down and put together consistent seasons. It's a shame, wanted him to be a great, but he's far too wasteful and lacks the focus and determination to make the most of his ability.

Like all Africans - he's erratic.

Re: Alex Song
I have to agree with fivetide here, at every club i have seen Song at he has never shown any leadership qualities. supposedly the coaching staff at arsenal were happy to see him go because he was seen as disruptive. how anyone could want to make him captain after the shit he caused with his national side is beyond me.

Re: Alex Song
That said, he was so good at times in that dynamic team before Christmas he actually made me giggle like a Hammerette. :)

Re: Alex Song
Clubs like ours have can do well if we handle players like these well. I think we are always too harsh with talented players who have issues.

It's one of the reasons Sam did well at Bolton. In the real world a mid-bottom table team like West Ham doesn't get players that can play for Barcelona. If we do get them it's because there is a problem. We shouldn't pretend that these problems don't exist. We should acknowledge them and roll with it to get the best out of them.

People complain about the Song's and Adebayor's etc.. but where else are you going to find world class talent willing to play for some average mid table club?

Re: Alex Song
he's one of the best players I've seen play for the club first half of the season, honestly he made it look so easy smoking a cigar strolling around out there in the middle, it is a real shame he's not staying I guess there are reasons no one is perfect

Re: Alex Song
teams playing west ham....who would they rather face? noble/nolan or kouyate/song?

ludo21 4:47 Fri May 22
Re: Alex Song
It's not really up to him if he stays or not though is it.... with uncertainty over the managers position and obviously it is up to Barcelona as well. Perhaps the Davids have already told him that they won't be looking to make the move permanent?

Agree that he could have been a bit more upbeat and said 'hope' to be here next year, but we all know that we have been a bit shit for the last 5 months and you can't really blame him for thinking that he can do better elsewhere.

Re: Alex Song
Cant blame him for losing interest after our shitcunt manager dropped him at Chelsea.

Hopefully we get our shit together and offer him the captaincy and a big contract and have a midfield of him Diarra and Kouyate.

Re: Alex Song
The way he's been used more sparingly, I wonder if there are some fitness concerns as well.

Whatever the reasons, it seems clear he won't be here.

Dudley Moore 4:55 Fri May 22
Re: Alex Song
Song is a very good player and looked excellent when he first came into the team, when they were all playing well.

Since the overall form has dropped and Allardyce has reverted back to the same old shit, Song's ability and potential has been subdued, through no fault of his own, imo.

I thought that was Ravel Morrison?

Song's form has dipped but as I, and others, have said he needs to be played in the right way with the right set up.

His form at the start of this season, which for me is some of the best football I have seen an individual play for West Ham, shows me that would be the right thing to do.

He needs to be the main man in the side with all the attacking options available to him.

Not blaming Sam for his dip in form but is it coincidence that his form dropped once we reverted back to type?

I just see Song as the lynch-pin of a side and someone you would build around.

Not sure. I never suggested that did I?

Re: Alex Song
And just to think we have handed a huge contract to the worst midfielder at the club.

Could of moved Noble on and brought Song in, in his place.

Is that how it works then Fordy?

Re: Alex Song

I think the idea was that we give Noble a contract and get Song on a permanent. I was unaware it was Song or Noble.

But, as you think Noble is a disease I can see why your skewed logic thinks that.

I believe his appearances have indeed been managed on the injury side of things. His back, I think. At least that was the case recently when he hasn't been playing.
